The Pastoral Council for our Family of Parishes met via Zoom on December 16, 2021. Fr. Maurice was present for the beginning of the meeting. He gave the members of the council an update on his health status. The council assured Fr. Maurice of their support as he continues to address the impacts of long-haul COVID-19.

Fr. Steven provided the council with an update on the status of our three Parishes, addressing various maintenance projects that are in the works at all three sites. He also discussed the continued impact that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on our parishes.

The majority of the meeting was spent on a proposal presented by Deacon Paul Bezaire, which lays out a plan of action for establishing an outreach program at St. Alphonsus Church. This program will be similar in nature to the Assumption Cares outreach program that has been in operation since November of 2019. The pastoral council was enthusiastic in their support for this project, and recommended that the proposal be sent to the finance council for the Family of Parishes, in order to gain their approval as well.

The meeting concluded with Fr. Steven and Deacon Paul sharing information about the Diocesan Pastoral Plan, titled “Embracing a Future Full of Hope.” This information will be used to guide the Pastoral Council through the process of developing a Pastoral Plan for our Family of Parishes in the new year.
