We are hiring for both a custodian at St. Angela and a housekeeper at St. Angela.

Position: Custodian – Windsor Heritage Catholic Family of Parishes
Primary Location: St. Angela Merici Parish, 980 Louis Avenue (at Erie St.), Windsor ON.
Commitment: 25 hours per week – Flexibility in working days and hours is required to meet event and activity needs. This position will require working hours in the evenings, on Saturdays and/or Sundays and on some statutory holidays.
Compensation: Pay rates will be in accordance with Diocese of London policies. This position is eligible for participation in the Diocesan lay staff benefits and lay staff defined contribution pension plan.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Coordinator of Properties, the Custodian completes all basic cleaning for the assigned parish including, but not limited to, the church and adjacent rooms, meeting areas, bathrooms, lunchroom, offices, and common areas i.e. stairwells, elevator, entrances. The Custodian is also responsible for the timely upkeep of the outdoor grounds, including lawn, landscaping and parking lot. The Custodian is an important member of the staff and contributes toward the spiritual life of parishioners by ensuring that spaces used for worship, prayer, programs, meetings and administration are clean, in good repair, and ready for use.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Cleans all buildings including the church, offices, meeting rooms, washroom facilities, and other common areas
- Collects garbage and recycling and places it in the appropriate bins
- Arranges for, upon approval from the Supervisor, and meets with licensed trades when repairs and/or service is required
- Set-ups and/or takes-down tables, chairs, etc. of meeting spaces for events and meetings
- Supports co-workers and assists with tasks and/or provides coverage at other buildings and churches within the family of parishes as assigned
- Removes snow and ice from sidewalks and church steps in a timely manner as needed (first thing in the morning, before masses, funerals)
- Completes all outdoor lawn and garden maintenance as required, including by not limited to: grass cutting, line trimming, weeding, shrub trimming, flowerbed upkeep, etc.
- Orders cleaning and washroom supplies and ensures an adequate inventory of supplies
- May assist with minor repairs as within skill set and working knowledge such as drywall repair, painting, unclogging sinks, etc.
- Other duties of a similar nature as required and/or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in industrial or office building cleaning and property maintenance
- Prior experience operating yard maintenance equipment is an asset
- Strong applied knowledge of and experience safely handling cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Prior experience performing minor repairs, e.g. plumbing, drywall, painting
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with excellent attention to detail regarding cleanliness
- Creative problem solver with a positive, action-oriented attitude
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a focus on customer service
- Proven ability to work well with others (co-workers and volunteers) along with the ability to listen to and consider suggestions and feedback in a gracious manner
- Ability and willingness to perform manual physical labour both indoors and outdoors
- Ability and willingness to work flexible working hours based on event schedules, including weekends and evenings
- Access to a reliable personal vehicle is preferred
- Professional representative of the Diocese of London at all times with an understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of London
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
Note: All new staff are required to complete on-line mandatory training available in English or French. Basic computer and reading proficiency to successfully complete this education is required.
