We are hiring a housekeeper at St. Angela.

Position: Part-time Housekeeper – Windsor Heritage Catholic Family of Parishes Primary Location: St. Angela Merici Parish, 980 Louis Avenue (at Erie St.), Windsor ON.

Commitment: 9 hours per week (Some flexibility in scheduling. 2 mornings of 4.5 hours each week). Compensation: In accordance with the Diocese of London policies.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Coordinator of Properties, the Housekeeper provides basic cleaning for the clergy residence currently located at St. Angela Merici Parish. The Housekeeper could be assigned, with prior notice, to perform duties of a similar nature at other buildings within the Windsor Heritage Catholic Family of Parishes based on business needs.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Performs regular weekly household cleaning, including but not limited to: dusting, vacuuming, mopping of floors, collecting and emptying of trash and recycling, disinfecting of bathrooms (sinks, showers, tubs, toilets, etc.), cleaning mirrors, changing towels and bed sheets
  • Performs periodic cleaning on a monthly and/or as needed basis, including but not limited to: cleaning of exhaust fans, baseboards, door frames, ceilings, walls, cupboards, fridge, microwave, oven, other kitchen minor appliances
  • Assists with personal laundry and ironing as assigned
  • Monitors supplies of cleaning and paper products and coordinates purchases with the Coordinator of Properties
  • Maintains the residence in a tidy and clean condition at all times
  • Reports safety concerns and/or hazards to the Coordinator of Properties in a timely manner
  • Liaises with volunteers or other staff at the residence in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Performs occasional (semi-annual) cleaning, including but not limited to: cleaning under beds and other furniture, dusting/cleaning of blinds, shelves, light fixtures, vent covers, tops of cupboards, cleaning HVAC vent covers, carpet/rug shampooing, cleaning cabinet drawers, assist with set-up and take-down of seasonal decorations
  • Ensures guest rooms are prepared when needed
  • Assist the Coordinator of Properties with furniture moves and set-up as required
  • May assist, given proper prior notice, with duties of a similar nature as assigned at any of the buildings within the Windsor Heritage Catholic Family of Parishes
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of and experience with the safe handling and use of household cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with excellent attention to detail regarding cleanliness
  • Adept at multi-tasking and organizing effectively to ensure timely completion of a number of tasks in a short period of time
  • Creative problem solver with a positive, action-oriented attitude
  • Proven ability to work well with others (clergy, volunteers, etc.) along with the ability to listen to and consider suggestions and feedback in a gracious manner
  • Ability and willingness to perform physical tasks in an efficient and safe manner
  • Access to a reliable personal vehicle is preferred
  • Professional representative of the Diocese of London at all times with an understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of London

A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.

Note: All new staff are required to complete on-line mandatory training available in English or French. Basic computer and reading proficiency to successfully complete this education is required.
